Ramos contract situation update after David Alaba arrival confirmed

Ramos wants two years

The future of Sergio Ramos is getting to a concerning stage with a matter of months now left until the expiration of his contract.

Spanish outlet Marca say that the Spanish defender ‘wants a two-year-contract.’

This appears to be the main sticking point with the club wanting to go year by year.

Furthermore, the presence of David Alaba’s arrival changes little about the situation besides Real knowing that should Ramos leave there is a quality incoming.

The club very much want to keep Ramos for next season.

‘Neither the emergence of Eder Militao as a top-level central defender as soon as he has had a chance, nor the safe arrival of Alaba as of June 30, determines the future of the captain. The Austrian can play in more positions such as left-back and even ahead of defence.’

Zinedine Zidane was asked a few weeks ago if Ramos had played his last El Clasico and said that he hoped it wouldn’t be.

“I hope not. He won’t play tomorrow and that’s a shame, but I hope he stays here. You know that,” said the French coach.

Ramos returns for Chelsea

Sergio Ramos has been missing for a number of weeks and was not available for the 1-1 draw with Chelsea last Tuesday. Raphael Varane has been the experienced head at the centre of the Los Blancos defence but he could soon be supported by Ramos’ return.

Zidane has confirmed that the club captain will be available for the second leg.

“[Ramos] is training with us and that means he’s able to play too,” Zidane said.

“We’ll see what we do when we name the squad, but Sergio is fit and ready to play.”

Real Madrid play Osasuna this weekend with plenty of rotation expected ahead of the second leg of the semi final.

Sergio Ramos’ Real Madrid future has been reportedly decided
