Harry Maguire equalled Manchester United club record during Leeds stalemate

An interesting statistic surrounding Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has emerged on the back of the Red Devils’ lackluster 0-0 draw with Leeds United on Sunday.

Leeds 0-Manchester United 0

Manchester United and Leeds of course have a fierce rivalry that has laid dormant for many years with the Peacocks stuck in the Championship.

However, after securing promotion last year, Leeds and Man United fans were no doubt desperate to renew their historic rivalry this summer.

Fans, of course, were unable to attend the games this season. But that did not stop the two clubs from producing an absolute spectacle in their first meeting earlier this season. The tie at Old Trafford saw the hosts come away with a staggering 6-2 victory.

So, fans of the Premier League were no doubt eager to see these two sides clash again on Sunday.

However, when all was said and done at Elland Road, we were instead treated to a rather dismal 90 minutes, which eventually finished with the score at 0-0.

The point, in terms of the league table, also did little for either outfit, with Man United still comfortably sat in 2nd place. Leeds, though, did move above Arsenal and into 9th, though European football remains a serious longshot at this point.

Harry Maguire equals Man United record

As mentioned above, perhaps the most noteworthy thing to emerge from Sunday’s game was a stat surrounding Harry Maguire.

Maguire has of course been a key figure in the Reds’ backline since his move from Leicester.

And now, after starting vs Leeds, it was confirmed by Opta that, Harry Maguire hasn’t missed a single minute of Man Utd ‘s last 71 Premier League matches, equalling Gary Pallister’s club record in the competition among outfield players:
