Arsenal interested in Orkun Kokcu but could face competition from Tottenham

Reports stemming from Italy have credited both Arsenal and Tottenham with an interest in Orkun Kokcu.

Who is Orkun Kokcu?

Kokcu joined Feyenoord’s youth ranks in 2014, and has been on their books ever since.

Despite still only being 20 years of age, meanwhile, he has already become a key figure for the Dutch outfit.

All told, the central midfielder has notched 72 appearances in all competitions for Feyenoord’s senior side, across which he has managed to net 10 and assist 12.

And though he was born in the Netherlands, and featured regularly for the Oranje at under-19 level, Kokcu has switched allegiances to Turkey, for whom he made his senior international debut in September of 2020.

Arsenal & Tottenham interested in Kokcu

Now, the youngster’s displays appear to have piqued interest from the Premier League.

It was reported last summer that Arsenal had opened talks over a potential £23m move for Kokcu.

However, this interest never culminated in anything, before Kokcu penned fresh terms on a contract through to 2025.

But, as mentioned above, it appears that the Gunners are still keeping tabs on the Feyenoord standout.

As per Sport Witness, citing Italian outlet La Repubblica, Arsenal remain interested in Kokcu, but could face competition from north London rivals, Tottenham.

The capital outfits are seemingly not the only ones keen on the midfielder, though, with the report also highlighting interest from Italy.

It is added that Kokcu has a ‘high valuation’ of around €12m, but given the fact that previous reports suggested a £23m bid from Arsenal was imminent, such a valuation may be slightly skewed.
